CRTE provides support to eco-innovation and supports the implementation of ecotechnologies, both in private and public sectors
IntroductionThe CRTE was set up in 1997 by a collaboration agreement between the Luxembourgish Ministry of the Environment and the CRP Henri Tudor - Public Research Centre Henri Tudor and became fully operational in January 1998.
This agreement is based on two articles of the Luxembourgish industrial pollution prevention and control act - loi du 10 juin 1999 relative aux établissement classés (PDF file - 328 kb) . By means of these articles, CRTE is consulting industry regarding the implementation of best available techniques (BAT), with a specific focus on small and medium sized enterprises (SME) and without performing, however, any legislative or regulatory function.
CRTE todayDuring the last 10 years CRTE has developed a broad range of activities to provide a support to eco-innovation to private and public actors, at national and international level. These activities include R&D projects, doctoral research, scientific consultancy, technology transfer, training, awareness-raising (see also products and services).

CRTE's main goal is associating the socioeconomic development in Luxemburg and the Greater Region to the protection of the environment through adopting an integrated and pro-active environmental protection approach. Special attention is given to a
sustainable management of substances and energy flows and the implementation of
ecotechnologies. Most of our activities are related or can be attributed to one of the following sectors:
- cleaner production
- renewable energies, rational use of energy
- urban water cycle
